چکیده

Safety of the existing corrosion damaged reinforced concrete (RC) bridges during a seismic event is matter increasing concern. To reduce enormous economic loss and casualties, it important to examine potential risk corroded RC bridge structures. This paper presents simplified method determine fragility piers by developing FEM model analysis. make proposed approach realistic, numerical validated with two different experimental studies available in literature. Obtain results from demonstrated excellent agreement tests, making suitable for vulnerability After validation, further adopted perform non-linear static pushover analysis piers. Finally, recently developed software tool SPO2FRAG utilized carry out defining three damage levels.

PERFORMANCE-BASED SEISMIC DESIGN OPTIMIZATION FOR MULI-COLUMN RC BRIDGE PIERS, CONSIDERING QUASI-ISOLATION

In this paper an optimization framework is presented for automated performance-based seismic design of bridges consisting of multi-column RC pier substructures. The beneficial effects of fusing components on seismic performance of the quasi-isolated system is duly addressed in analysis and design. The proposed method is based on a two-step structural analysis consisting of a linear modal dynami...

Centrifuge modeling of rocking-isolated inelastic RC bridge piers

Experimental proof is provided of an unconventional seismic design concept, which is based on deliberately underdesigning shallow foundations to promote intense rocking oscillations and thereby to dramatically improve the seismic resilience of structures. Termed rocking isolation, this new seismic design philosophy is investigated through a series of dynamic centrifuge experiments on properly s...

Bi-directional Seismic Analysis and Design of Bridge Steel Truss Piers Allowing a Controlled Rocking Response

4-legged bridge steel truss piers provide support for gravity, transverse, and longitudinal lateral loads of bridges. Allowing a controlled rocking response for seismic resistance of 4-legged truss piers requires the development of design equations considering ground motions in two horizontal directions and vertical excitation. First, the static kinematic and hysteretic bi-directional behavior ...

Probabilistic Approach to the Seismic Vulnerability of RC Frame Structures by the Development of Analytical Fragility Curves

Fragility curves are very useful in quantifying the physical and economic damage of buildings that have undergone an earthquake. This paper presents the development of analytical fragility curves representative of mid-rise residential structures built with reinforced concrete, taking into account the specific structural characteristics of Algerian buildings. The derivation of the analytical fra...

Reinforced Concrete Bridge Piers Subjected to Reversed Cyclic Loading

Sixteen large-scale reinforced concrete specimens without web reinforcements were tested to study the behavior of typical bridge piers subjected to deflection reversals that were large enough to cause extensive yielding of the longitudinal reinforcement. The different parameters considered included shear spanto-depth ratio, percentage of longitudinal reinforcement, frequency of the applied load...
